The WMSC adopted the proposal put forward by the Environmentally Sustainable Motor Sport Commission (ESMSC) that future motor sport competition should be efficiency-based rather than capacity-based.

The ESMSC also put forward a number of other policy proposals concerning fuels, carbon neutrality, technology promotion, best practice, driver aids and safety, which have been formally endorsed and adopted.

RALLYING

From 1 January 2010, a Junior Rally Championship will be created within the framework of the Middle East Rally Championship.

KARTING

Following the creation of a new Karting World Championship for 15 to 18 year old drivers and of a CIK-FIA Academy for 13 to 15 year old drivers, the first season will consist of three events ending on 25 July, 29 August and 3 October 2010.

Each event will run over three days. The Friday will involve sporting and technical checks, an education programme and non-qualifying practice. Saturday will involve non-qualifying practice, qualifying practice and heats. Sunday will involve warm-ups, qualifying heats and the final phase.

For the World Championship, the new final phase format will have two pre-finals (one with a reversed grid) to determine the starting grid for the final.

Total has won the tender to be the single fuel supplier to the CIK-FIA Superkart Championships in 2010 and 2011.

Dell’Orto has won the tender to be the carburetor supplier to the CIK-FIA Championships (Categories KZ1, KZ2) in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
